Slampapi’s UPCOMING & ON-GOING GIGS

 


APRIL 2 “ECC Recruitment Poetry Slam” in ATC Auditorium of Elgin Community College , Elgin, IL
Wednesday 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM. Marc will conducts ECC’s annual high school recruitment slam. It’s open to the public and each year there’s always been ECC students and local citizens who compete alongside high school students from around the area.


APRIL 4 “Slammin’ The Arts in the South Suburbs” at the Union Street Gallery -- Chicago Heights HYPERLINK "http://www.unionstreetgallery.org" www.unionstreetgallery.org
Friday evening. Marc will host the 1st Annual Slammin’ the Arts Poetry Slam competition. The prize money totals $1000. That’s a lot of bread. For info on singing up for the workshops and competition contact: Tina Zagone HYPERLINK "mailto:Looks3@aol.com" Looks3@aol.com .


APRIL 7 thru APRIL 15 “Mythos” and “Des petits Riens” spoken word festivals in Britanny, France
Marc will be performing in these two festivals as part of the French movie documentary “Speaking Arts”

 

APRIL 22 “Sandburg to Smith” at the Gail Borden Library – Elgin, IL 7 PM open to public
Tuesday night. Marc and the Rootabaga Band will perform their highly acclaimed musical adaptation of Carl Sandburg’s poetry and stories.


APRIL 25 “2ND ANNUAL ROOTABAGA SLAM” at Cherry Street Tavern – Galesburg, IL 7 PM
Friday night. As part of the 2008 Sandburg Days Festival Marc returns to Galesburg after last year’s rave event to host the Second Annual Rootabaga Slam. MAY 2 “Speak’Easy at Looptopia” -- Downtown Chicago
After rocking Chase Plaza last year Marc & Speak’Easy have been invited back to rock it again. Check for details on the website.


MAY 22 “Sandburg to Smith” at Lewis University – Romeoville, IL
Thursday night. Marc and the Rootabaga Band will perform their highly acclaimed musical adaptation of Carl Sandburg’s poetry and stories. Open to the public.


MAY 26 thru June 10 “The World Cup of Poetry in Paris” & “The International Poetry Slam in Italy”
Returning to Paris for Pilot le Hot’s 2nd Annual World Cup of Poetry and to Italy for Lello’s International Poetry Slam Marc will hopefully pay visits to Switzerland and Germany to perform at and visit many local slams in those countries as well as France and Italy. We’ll keep you posted as his itinerary unfolds.


JULY15 thru JULY 29 “ABC Brecht Festival in Augsburg, Germany & “The Spoken Word Forward Festival in Singapore”
Marc returns with the Speak’Easy Ensemble to perform at the prestigious ABC Brecht festival and then travel to Singapore for Chirs Mooney Singe Word Forward festival – and maybe some stops in between. We’ll keep you posted on his itinmerary.
